We are one of only 18 Missouri grants
The Missouri Community Service Commission (MCSC) has announced that the International Institute of St. Louis is one of 18 organizations across Missouri that have been awarded AmeriCorps grants from the Corporation for National and Community Service. A $93,100 grant will provide subsidy for seven one-year positions.
At the Institute, seven new AmeriCorps will serve in the following positions: employment services, benefits & economic development, child services, medical services & immunizations, medical services & enhanced orientation, social work support services, and farm assistant. This is the third year in which the Institute has successfully competed for an AmeriCorps grant.
"AmeriCorps members enable us to leverage our services significantly," said Anna Crosslin, President and CEO of the Institute. "Members learn valuable work skills by performing many functions necessary for successful refugee integration; meanwhile they permit our bilingual staff to focus on those services requiring foreign language skills."
Additional St. Louis recipients of 2012 AmeriCorps grants are: College Bound, AmeriCorps St. Louis Education Corps Competitive Funding, and AmeriCorps St. Louis Safety Service Corps.
AmeriCorps is a national service program administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
