Cultural Competency Training

Is your organization looking to equip its employees with a toolkit in cross-cultural competency and multicultural inclusion?

We offer cross-cultural training to organizations throughout the St. Louis region. Our Cultural Competency Training goes beyond Equal Employment Opportunity and traditional discrimination avoidance efforts. It extends to the exploration and understanding of underlying differences in world view due to diverse cultural norms. Employees learn how to embrace, accept and adapt to a diverse set of work and communication styles, leading to an increase in overall team building for your organization.

The IIBSC provides educational seminars, 3-hour training sessions, and follow up sessions so that employees continue to grow in developing their cross-cultural intelligence and thus creating a more productive, inclusive workplace for your organization.  Visit our web site to learn more.

Interpreter & Translator Dialogue

Meet Celeste Blumer

Celeste Blumer has been working as an interpreter for the International Institute Business Solutions Center for four years. Celeste is a native English speaker and is also fluent in Portuguese and Spanish. Celeste moved with her family from the US to Brazil when she was almost 12 years old and became immersed in the Portuguese language as she made friends with the local Brazilians. Celeste is told that she speaks Portuguese like a native. She attended an accredited overseas high school in Brazil and performed well on a Spanish language achievement test, although she never had a Spanish class. Celeste then learned to speak Spanish fluently but still holds onto her Brazilian accent.  Read more...
