URGENT - CALL CONGRESS TODAY |
One and All -
I just got an announcement from CCBD (Council on Behavioral Disorders) that a bill has been introduced into the House of Representatives that would reduce IDEA Part B funding by more than $500 million dollars. The federal government has never come close to the level of financial support that was promised when the law was originally passed. This proposal would move funding in the wrong direction, at a time when states and school districts are also experiencing major problems with their own budget deficits and decreasing tax revenue. Please call your Congressperson and urge them to oppose the $500 million cut in IDEA Part B funding in the House Continuing Resolution. You can get the phone number of your Congress person at
:http://capwiz.com/cek/callalert/index.tt?alertid=27646566.
Kids, teachers, schools and all of us will suffer if special education and other disability and human services funding is reduced by the Congress. Act now!!! Let them hear now....so perhaps as the budget process continues, they will find less damaging places to cut spending or better ways to manage the budget that don't cut services for people with disabilities and others in need.
