Times to be extra careful ...

Discrimination and harassment claims of all types tend to center around certain events or employment perks.   So be extra careful when ...

  • Hiring or firing
  • Compensating or assigning workers
  • Tranferring, promoting, or laying off employees
  • Advertising
  • Recruiting
  • Testing
  • Offering company facilities
  • Training

Remember too that retaliation claims often go hand in hand with discrimination or harassment complaints.  So make sure your employees do not experience any adverse treatment at work after complaining of discrimination or harassment.

For a more detailed explanation of what is and is not discrimination in its various forms, please visit, EEOC Discrimination Guidelines.  To better understand what could be viewed as an "adverse action" amounting to retaliation, please see, EEOC Retaliation Guidelines.

Please feel free to call if you have any questions or concerns.  Meanwhile, thank you kindly for your support!
