Integration Challenge

As discussed in this month's Cloud Advisory article, integration can be a challenge with many cloud services. When a Software Consortium developer was using BizTalk, which is considered a core cloud service, a perplexing challenge reared its head and was slain.

Greetings!

Almost all experts agree that the recovery phase of the "Great Recession" has begun, however, the new frugality brought with the recession will stay with us, much as the effects of the Depression stayed with those who bore the greatest pain. Business in this "new normal" environment requires working smarter.

In this issue,  we continue our focus on the next technology on the horizon to potentially reduce costs: Cloud. Management-wise, in the post recession reality of doing more with less,  we point out the wisdom of how to reduce decision making costs.

Historically, Software Consortium has been a thought leader in the Baltimore-Washington area, advising our clients, IBM, Microsoft, and other technology leaders. We offer software and technology services that are practical and have helped our clients make their businesses more competitive locally and globally.

 All the best,

Saving Money: Streamlining Decisions & Educating About Costs

A recent article from MIT Sloan Management Review looked at informal networks, within teams and throughout organizations, and how they can systematically bias the way decisions are made andinformal networks carried out. Are you leveraging your networks to their maximum benefit?

Over the past several decades, research has shown how both cognitive (how we think) biases and small group dynamics can undermine effective decision making in organizations. New research examines the ways that informal networks impact the framing and execution of decisions, and how that correlates to costs.

Here are key findings.

Team News
"Not rain, nor snow, nor dead of night..."

Well okay, maybe snow.

Snowmageddon 2010 brought everything to an abrupt halt, including Software Consortium's February seminar in the Washington area. We'll see our DC area friends in the spring for a repeat of the Resonant Leadership seminar or you can join us in Baltimore, March 18th.
Here's our seminar speaker, Scott Bolden, digging his car out from February's historic monster dump, using his emotional intelligence to adapt to the latest signs of climate change.

As Charles Darwin said "It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change."

As human beings, our flight or fight response to external threats serves us quite well when our survival is threatened. However, in today's world, our instinctive response to stress and threats can result in decreased abilities to think new thoughts as we automatically prepare to defend ourselves.
Senior IT managers and leaders need their best thinking and fully engaged teams to make their IT departments effective today and in the future. In this seminar, you will learn how you can systematically become more effective at leading today's multigenerational workforce.

Gain practical tools you can use immediately:

  1. Knowledge about core areas of competency for developing your ideals in leadership, leading to higher job satisfaction and productivity for you and your team;
  2. Self awareness of how your emotions and energy can impact yourself and others, in both positive and negative ways;
  3. Techniques to rejuvenate yourself during times of stress;
  4. Advice, support and practical learning from other attendees, who are facing similar challenges.

Join us for this interactive half day seminar and come away with new energy to inspire yourself and your team.
