Greetings!
Our topics this month include the experiences of early adopters with cloud computing, along with a McKinsey perspective of the "new normal" wisdom of incenting employees with the motivators of time and attention, a tried and true formula for those of us who started working in the early '70s.
As the recovery begins after the deepest recession in our time, we at Software Consortium continue to focus our attention on skills and tools that will make our client's more successful. For 19 years, we have conducted seminars and helped clients apply new technologies, project management and leadership principles to their projects and teams.
Historically, Software Consortium has been a thought leader in the Baltimore-Washington area, advising our clients, IBM, Microsoft, and other technology leaders. We offer software and technology services that are practical and have helped our clients make their businesses more competitive locally and globally.
All the best,
Janet

Incenting People Beyond the Money
Data from McKinsey suggests business leaders should reassess the combination of financial and nonfinancial incentives that will serve their companies best through and beyond the downturn.
Nonfinancial motivators play crucial roles in making employees feel that their companies value them, take their well-being seriously, and strive to create opportunities for career growth.
Learn how to increase motivation in the "new normal" for your staff.

Software Consortium Opens Third Office
Expanding Federal branch finds a handsome new home.
In December, Software Consortium's Federal branch expanded with the opening of a new office in the Silver Spring Innovation Center located at 8070 Georgia Avenue. "The move became necessary as we added Federal team members, and we outgrew the shared space in our Calverton office," said Laura Suffecool, Facilities Manager. "This new location puts us in easy proximity for downtown clients, consultants and partners." Read on.

Resonant Leadership: Bringing out the best in yourself and others
Software Consortium's next free seminar:
Wednesday, February 3, 9 am - 12 noon
Wheaton, Maryland
(Free parking! Easy access from 495 and Metro)
Free 3 PDUs for PMP-certified attendees!
Complimentary breakfast at 8:30 am
As Charles Darwin said " It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change."
As human beings, our flight or fight response to external threats serves us quite well when our survival is threatened. However, in today's world, our instinctive response to stress and threats can result in decreased abilities to think new thoughts as we automatically prepare to defend ourselves. Senior IT managers and leaders need their best thinking and fully engaged teams to make their IT departments effective today and in the future. In this seminar, you will learn how you can systematically become more effective at leading today's multigenerational workforce.
Gain practical tools you can use immediately:
- Knowledge about core areas of competency for developing your ideals in leadership, leading to higher job satisfaction and productivity for you and your team;
- Self awareness of how your emotions and energy can impact yourself and others, in both positive and negative ways;
- Techniques to rejuvenate yourself during times of stress;
- Advice, support and practical learning from other attendees, who are facing similar challenges.
Join us for this interactive half day seminar and come away with new energy to inspire yourself and your team.
Seminar description and registration. Mark your calendar for March 18th and look for our email notice for the next Resonant Leadership seminar in Baltimore. |
