Fresh
Love and eggs are best when they are fresh.
Russian Proverb

Tomorrow is fresh, with no mistakes in it.
L.M. Montgomery (from Anne of Green Gables)

I asked the waiter, "Is this milk fresh?" He said, "Lady, three hours ago it was grass."
Phyllis Diller

In a mood of faith and hope my work goes on. A ream of fresh paper lies on my desk waiting for the next book. I am a writer and I take up my pen to write.
Pearl S. Buck

Online Style

Is it affect or effect? Lay or lie? When do you use a comma in a series? How about capitalization in titles? These are a few of the things that have us reaching for our dog-eared style guides.

Lately, however, we have been having fun with the new Yahoo! Style Guide - a sourcebook designed especially for writing, editing and creating content for the digital world. What causes you to reach for your favorite style guide? Drop us a note to let us know what you find yourself looking up most often, and we will enter your name in a drawing for a complimentary copy of The Yahoo! Style Guide.

Do You Haiku?

Micropoets across the globe are rejoicing, thanks to Twitter. And why not? It's the perfect forum for tiny verses. Even the Sun Microsystems CEO resigned earlier this year with a haiku tweet.

Some people complain that Twitter haiku lacks quality. Others wonder why poets don't always follow the 5-7-5 syllable rule (thankfully, you don't have to!). In any case, Twitter is helping to keep Japanese short form poetry alive, and we're glad that our Christina Nguyen is out there sharpening her poetic skills. You can find her tweeting poetry as @TinaNguyen, and later this fall, you can read one of her poems in the 2010 Haiku Society of America Members' Anthology.

Curious? Here's the poem:

Lift My Arm Website
Tornier - Lift My Arm Campaign

Shoulder replacement is the third most common type of joint replacement after knees and hips, but it is not as familiar to patients. Tornier, a leader in orthopedic prosthetics, wanted to create a campaign to drive patient awareness of shoulder replacement as an option for those suffering from chronic shoulder pain. High Point Creative developed the copy for a comprehensive patient education brochure, video, advertorial, and website FAQ that support Tornier's Lift My Arm campaign.
