Real – Winter 2009

Nothing ever becomes real till it is experienced; even a proverb is no proverb to you till your life has illustrated it.
John Keats

What is real always was and cannot be destroyed.
The Bhagavad Gita

There used to be a real me, but I had it surgically removed.
Peter Sellers

Generally by the time you are real, most of your hair has been loved off and your eyes drop out and you get loose at the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all because once you are real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand.
The Velveteen Rabbit, by Margery Williams

Get real. That's what communication is all about these days. Everybody knows when you're not being real. And nobody's listening unless you are. Especially this time of year, when we turn a little inward and ask ourselves what's real and what really matters, it gives us deep satisfaction to look back on some of the projects we've created for clients that are helping people in truly fundamental ways.

HOT POINT

Santa Claus is Coming to Facebook
This year more holiday web shoppers are using the social networks to help with holiday shopping. According to a recent survey by Deloitte, 17% of consumers plan to use social media during their holiday shopping. Those shoppers will use Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to find discounts, coupons and sale information (60%); research gift ideas (53%); and check the gift wish lists of friends and family (52%).
– Deloitte, "Annual Holiday Survey," as reported in eMarketer Daily

TRY THIS

Beyond Food Shelf Basics
Along with a bag of groceries, consider including one or more of these in your food shelf donation: cough drops, pain relievers, antacids, insoles, arch supports, bandages, other basic first aid items, reading glasses, paper and pens, small 2010 calendars or thick socks. These are among the most needed non-food items according to Twin Cities Community Voice Mail, an organization we support that helps the homeless find jobs and housing.

WORDWISE

Boost Your Brand's Value
A brand that improves a consumer's knowledge is the most valuable of all, according to the Global Web Index. Consumers also value brands that keep them current, entertain and become part of a daily routine. To boost your brand's value, offer discounts, relevant news, analysis and new ideas. A word to the wise: Consumers are uninterested in brands that try to act like their friends.

HIGH POINT HIGHLIGHTS

AMS: Prostate Cancer Resource Kit
We recently worked with American Medical Systems (AMS) to create a comprehensive resource kit for men who have undergone prostate cancer surgery. It provides detailed information about what to expect in the weeks and months following surgery, including treatment options for common after-effects.

Ramada Mall of America: Integrated Online Campaign
Each year, more than 1.7 million visitors attend the Minnesota State Fair. To help the Ramada Mall of America (MOA) entice out-of-town fairgoers to stay at their hotel, High Point Creative provided an integrated online marketing campaign, which featured:

  • A State Fair e-blast sent to previous Ramada MOA guests
  • A new web landing page with information about the State Fair and the Ramada MOA's special State Fair package rates
  • Facebook ads linking to the Ramada MOA's State Fair landing page, targeted specifically to fans of the State Fair

More than 400 potential guests visited the Ramada MOA's website to check out their State Fair offer.

The Ramada MOA's current integrated online campaign focuses on the hotel's money-saving, fun-filled holiday promotions, including "Shop 'til You Drop," "Park and Fly" and "Mardi Gras New Year's Eve."
