Rhythm is something you either have or don't have, but
when you have it, you have it all over.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat. Sometimes the daily
patterns that once felt comforting are now confining.
When you feel like you've "been there, done that" one
too many times, consider ways to alter your life's
tempo. It can be as easy as changing your point of
view. We've provided several ideas here such as a
greener way to Google and blogs offering new ideas
and insights.
One sure way to change your professional point of
view is to attend a seminar or conference. High
Pointers have been doing both and we'll report on the
summit on patient communication strategies for
medical devices and the Minnesota Interactive Marketing
Association Summit just as soon as we
remember where we put our notes.

Searching in the Dark
Part of keeping in rhythm with our world is doing our
part to reduce the energy we consume. We recently
learned about one unique way to contribute to a more
sustainable world: The search site Blackle was
created by Heap Media with the mission "to
remind us all of the need to take small steps in our
everyday lives to save energy."
Powered by Google Custom Search, it reportedly
saves energy because the screen is almost entirely
black. That's because a monitor requires more power
to display a light screen than a dark one. Just how
much energy are we talking? As of October 22, the site
says it has saved 264,938.628 watt-hours.
If you keep a search page open as your home page all
day long, maybe you could save a few watts with
Blackle. Or at least be reminded of other small steps
toward sustainability you can take throughout the day.

No Waiting Room for This Health
Resource
More than ever, we are turning to the Internet instead
of our doctors for medical advice. As we reported
earlier this year, more than three-quarters of the online
adults in the U.S. rely on the Internet for health
information. More than 45% of those individuals
consider the Internet to be the primary source of
information used to "keep their households healthy,"
compared to just 23% who consider health care
professionals their primary resource.

Blog It!
Blogging is hot and people are writing and reading
blogs ... are you? According to the
Pew Research Center, only about 8% of U.S.
Internet users have their own blogs, but 39% read
someone else's blog. Several High Pointers have
created blogs related to personal projects and admit
to following a few (although most of them are just for
fun).
With so much user-generated content out there and
more being added every day, where do you start? On
October 15, PC Magazine released a list of their
100 Favorite Blogs. We also have a
couple of our own to share:
The blogosphere is still pretty untamed, but there are
some serious corporate blogs out there. If blogging is
part of your marketing campaign and you need a writer
who can follow your tone and voice, the High Point
team can "ghost blog" for you, ensuring your brand is
consistently and accurately reflected in writing.
Do you have a favorite blog? Tell us
about it by October 31 and you may win a High Point
messenger bag filled with goodies. One winner will be
drawn from all entries.

Survey & Ballot Systems
Survey
& Ballot Systems manages the surveys and
elections of tens of millions of people on behalf of
nonprofit associations and cooperatives, business
organizations and local, state and federal government
operations. When the company wanted to reach out to
customers and prospects with an online newsletter,
High Point worked with Voyageur I.T. to
bring the SBS Soundbyte to life. This
e-brief piques the recipient's interest with short
summaries of a helpful article, a compelling stat, a
case study and a survey question – plus
links to each full story on the Survey & Ballot Systems
Web site. The most recent e-brief resulted in the
highest ever number of visitors to the Web site in a
single day.
