Stop worrying about the potholes in the road and celebrate the journey!
Barbara Hoffman

It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept and celebrate those differences.
Audre Lorde

Celebrate what you want to see more of.
Thomas J. Peters

There are so many things to celebrate this season – not least of which are the clients and colleagues whom we are privileged to work with throughout the year. We hope this issue of On Point finds you healthy, happy and ready to get festive!

TRY THIS

Holiday Hello
Add a little intrigue to your holiday gathering with this game. Pass out two notecards to each guest and tell them to write down two things about themselves that no one else knows – something surprising (but not too incriminating). Ask that they try to alter their handwriting so that doesn’t give them away.

Collect the notecards, fold them in half to hide the revelations and put them into a basket. Each guest then draws two cards and has to find the authors for both. The first few guests to identify their authors fastest win. (Actually everyone wins by learning something new about people they thought they knew.)

HOT POINT

Cyber Elves are Busy
This year, Cyber Monday (the Monday after Thanksgiving) has launched what could be the busiest online shopping season ever. According to estimates by eMarketer, online sales could reach a record $24.3 billion this holiday season.

WORDWISE

Seasons Greetings ... Love 'em or Hate 'em?
Holiday letters ... fun to write, fun to read? Not so much. We’ve all received laborious letters detailing little Suzie’s achievements and Uncle Ed’s surgeries. And we’d never foist those letters our own on friends and family, would we?

Consider these tips for better letters:

  1. More pics, less prose. Use three to four pictures to show what you’ve been up to instead of describing every detail. And no fair only showing kids/pets. Your friends want to see you!
  2. Be opinionated. Tell us what book, restaurant, CD, TV show or candidate you cared about this year. Use the letter as a way to start a dialogue.
  3. Say it in a page. Cut your content to fit one sheet. That way you’ll hit the high points and avoid the “ho hums.”

HIGH POINT HIGHLIGHTS

Deluxe Financial Services
This past October, Deluxe Financial Services hosted an exclusive reception at the Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT) annual convention. High Point Creative worked with design partner Zimmer Madich to create a unique “barrel of monkeys” invitation, which fit well with the convention's overall “jungle” theme. Along with the invitation, we also created a reminder sticker to go on invitees’ morning newspapers before the event. The Deluxe team “got a chuckle out of the project” and attendees got an engaging toy to encourage them to stop by the reception.

American Medical Systems
When you’ve survived prostate cancer, you don’t like to complain. But to those men suffering from urinary incontinence as a result, it can feel like they’re missing out on the best that life has to offer. Not anymore. As the world leader in male continence solutions, American Medical Systems of Minnetonka, Minnesota, recently launched the AdVanceTM Male Sling System, an innovative, safe and effective surgical solution that can put an end to incontinence. High Point Creative teamed up with Zimmer Madich to develop a comprehensive “physician empowerment kit.” It provides all the materials urologists need to get the word out to their patients about how this innovative procedure can restore bladder control and help men live life to the fullest. Now that’s something to celebrate!
