Greetings!

Well, again this month, as the last 1,800 months, we still have economic uncertainty. The demons are still putting thoughts in our minds to get us to worry, to get us to doubt, to get us to focus on money and not God, to get us to focus on things that are insignificant compared to God's Kingdom. So, in that regard, that portion of my industry/job is very boring. I can go out at any given time and find ten articles, written by highly educated economists, that tell me why the U.S. stock market is going to go up. I can go out at anytime and find ten articles that tell me why the U.S. stock market is going to go down. The same is true for every other asset class. So, it's the same old thing this month as every other month. However, there are some electrifying aspects to my job. What are the thrilling parts to my job, you ask?

Headshot - August 2007 Our ability to look at investments and look at securities and see what we think is undervalued and whether or not God would have us to move into that undervalued security. Also neat is what Christ says about money and looking at my own life then talking with you about your lives and how these verses apply and how we're working through that and trying to walk closer with Christ. Seeing these verses that were written and spoken thousands of years ago and how they are still so very applicable to our lives and what we're going through today - that is exhilarating!

But what if we do listen to these articles that say we're going into a recession or stating the obvious like "the stock market is going down"? The U.S. dollar is going caput and all of these topics that we read agitate us and get us worrying. Let's say we do go into another Great Depression in this country (looking back 79 years ago to the Great Depression). What would have happened if someone that was totally debt free and had say $100,000 (in today's dollars please) saved up that was truly diversified and they went into the Great Depression they lost their job, and virtually had their current cash flow decreased by 50 to 70% for 18 months of their life? What would have happened to that person? What would have been the worst case scenario for them? Is that what we are worried about? What are we worried about? Is it our account going down?

I had one client confess to me that she was scared that she might end up being a homeless person. She has been a client of mine of 5+ years and because of her childhood - this is a fear of hers. What are you thinking when it comes to your personal financial situation?

Man Reading Newspaper Among other survey findings, millionaire investors have increased their use of independent advisors, with 26 percent now working with such advisors-up from 22 percent last year. More than 37 percent of those who work with advisors still work with their first advisor, a relationship that has lasted 10 years on average.

One other interesting finding is that 19 percent of millionaires do not feel wealthy, despite having average investable assets of $3 million and annual income of $270,000. How much would they need in order to feel wealthy? An average of $23 million in investable assets, according to the survey. As Solomon cautioned, "Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income." (Ecclesiastes 5:10).
