Visa Reform for Travel to U.S. Finds New Champion

The U.S. Travel Association has provided information that shows it can take more than 140 days for travelers to obtain a visa to visit the U.S. from such countries as Brazil and China.

As David Teel mentioned in special alerts sent last week, the U.S. Travel Association has been working diligently to bring this issue to light and TTIA has been supporting their efforts. A report on ABC World News illustrated the difficulty faced by travelers in trying to obtain a visa to enter the U.S.  In some cases, it can take more than 6 months just to get an interview at the U.S. Consulates in some countries.

The Visa Reform issue has found a new champion in the President & CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association.

On Monday, November 14th, Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the U.S. trade association representing more than 2,000 consumer electronics companies, wrote an Opinion Editorial for FoxNews.com in which he discusses the American jobs that could be created by reforming the Visa Program and allowing these high-spending travelers to visit the U.S. in a more timely manner.  To read the entire Op-Ed, click here.
