Texas Travel & Tourism Week May 8-16, 2010
Travel Rally Day: May 11th National Travel and Tourism Week is an annual salute to our industry, celebrating its power and economic impact. A more recent addition to this week of celebration is designating the Tuesday of that week (this year on May 11th) as Travel Rally Day. The goal of Rally Day is to unite a community's travel workers and supporters and publicly represent the industry to media, elected officials and residents with a message that travel matters to this nation and to the local community.
In Texas, plans for the May 11th Rally Day include: - Texas Department of Transportation will host Rio Grande Valley-area travel industry representatives at the Harlingen Travel Information Center
Abilene and the Forts Trail Region will celebrate with various festivities at Frontier Texas! Waco will hold an event including a mayoral proclamation on the steps of Waco City Hall Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will launch a new Texas Paddling Trail at Village Creek State Park near Beaumont Texas Commission on the Arts is holding an event in the Huntsville Arts and Cultural District Texas Department of Agriculture will rally for the impact of rural tourism at the Lubbock Convention and Visitors Bureau
