A fundamental aspect

Represents: money, power and authority.  This chakra is the seat of ego, anxieties and fear.

Corresponding gland: pancreas

Symptoms of Imbalance:
The need to gain undue and illogical supremacy, creates imbalance and blockages in the functioning of the chakra leading to raised levels of cholesterol, heart diseases, diabetes, ulcers, hepatitis, rheumatoid arthritis, and poor eyesight. Also, if this chakra is unduly suppressed, it becomes responsible for imbalanced digestion,
lack of restful sleep, increased irritability.

Foggy morning on Tochigi-Ken Lake in JapanReiki

Since I began offering half price on Reiki sessions through August 31, several clients have asked, "What is Reiki?"

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) provides deep relaxation and promotes healing.

Some of the benefits you may experience include:

  • Total relaxation
  • A sense of well-being
  • Decreased anxiety
  • Reduced pain
  • Better sleep

Reiki has also been shown to support recovery from surgery, illness, disease, and trauma. In 2007, 15% (more than 800) of U.S. hospitals offered Reiki as part of their services, according to the American Hospital Association.

According to the Pottstown Memorial Regional Cancer Center's website, "PMRCC's patients who participate in complementary care offerings [including Reiki therapy] reported feeling less fatigue, anxiety, nausea and pain."

During a Reiki session, you remain clothed as I place my hands near or lightly touching various parts of the body, including areas around your head, shoulders, stomach, legs, and feet. Most people experience a feeling of deep relaxation, sometimes even falling asleep during the session.

The technique was developed by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan in 1920 and brought to the US in 1937. REI means universal and KI means life energy.

The photo above is entitled, "Foggy Morning on Tochigi-Ken Lake in Japan."
Dry-Brush Technique

The Dry-Brush technique involves brushing your skin with a natural brush (the brush is dry - no lotions, oils, or perfumes are used).  The brush is moved in quick circular, short and long strokes along the lymph channels towards the various watersheds throughout your body, which helps increase circulation and stimulate collagen.

I became interested in this technique while experiencing pain and discomfort along the left side of my body.  Our reflexologist Cheryl Calautti believed it was an issue with congested lymph glands and suggested the dry-brush technique.  After a very intensive regimen of dry-brushing, I began experiencing relief from the pain and noticed healthier-looking skin within a few days.

Now I would like to introduce you to this healthy, natural, non-invasive technique that is both stimulating and relaxing.

Benefits you may experience with this technique include:

  • More beautiful, youthful skin
  • Reduction in the appearance of cellulite
  • Healthier Lymph Drainage
  • Revitalized body and mind

The cost for the first half-hour session is $45, including brushes, and you will learn how to apply the technique at home. Additional sessions are available at $20. This service can be added onto a massage therapy session or done separately. Your skin should be free of oils, lotions, and perfumes, and you should take a shower AFTER the treatment.

For more information about dry-skin brushing, give me a call or stop by Wellness Works: 2nd Saturday.
