MPFC in the news....
Spouses of gays, including a Hartland-area resident, are happy to be recognized, but law remains unequal. By Tatum L. Ryan
"There is a lot to celebrate on Veterans Days as returning soldiers, ones who were deployed during the DADT era, are now coming home to the loved ones they can finally recognize. without penalty. Jessie Campbell was among the crowd of 2,000 family members waiting to welcome home 150 Michigan National Guard soldiers. As the formation of soldiers was finally dismissed, Jessie ran to her soldier just like all the other Army wives and girlfriends present. Ariana Bostian-Kentes, president of the Military Partners and Families Coalition who currently has a partner serving overseas, understands what Jessie went through this past year with her partner gone. She also knows that it's the isolation of being a silent partner that has made deployments especially hard on hidden lesbian and gay military couples."

New York's LGBT Community Center co-sponsored with MPFC a reception for U.S. service members, their partners and their families.
On the West Coast, in the heavily military city of San Diego, gay and lesbian troops were happy to participate in the city's annual veteran's parade. Lesbian veteran Evelyn Thomas was an honorary grand marshal. She quoted Bob Dylan to the paper, saying, "The times, they are a-changing." More info >>
