ONE MORE BIG PUSH
Show Your Love

We have received an unprecedented amount of alumni support in the Annual Fund this fiscal year. As of June 15, 2012, 16% of alumni have participated in the Raise the Weathervane annual fund goal (that's 353 alumni)! On behalf of everyone at MVCDS, thank you for your generosity!

See who among your alumni peers has donated, here.

The fiscal year isn't quite over. We still need your help! If you haven't yet donated, please join your alumni friends and show your love for Maumee Valley Country Day School.

**** To sweeten the pot, an anonymous donor pledged $10,000 to help Raise the Weathervane. To win this challenge, 95 more alumni must donate by June 30, 2012- bringing the total alumni participation percentage to 20%.

Some of you may be thinking: "My gift doesn't really count. They don't need my money."

That couldn't be further from the truth. Your donation, whatever the amount, counts more than ever. Please, don't let this $10,000 gift go to waste.

Show your love for Maumee Valley and CLICK AND GIVE.

Still not convinced? Read the Top 10 Reasons to Give, here

Call Leah Whitaker '00 in the Alumni Office to donate over the phone: 419-381-1313 ext. 112.

One of Our Own Makes History

Jonathan Buchanan, a Maumee Valley fifth grader, was frustrated that the only time he could play his favorite game, ChipTrading, was during math class. Not allowing life's small complications to stand in the way, he developed a new app and submitted it to Apple for approval. On May 5, 2012, Apple made ChipTrading available for download on the iPhone for 99 cents, and 10-year-old Jonathan Buchanan became the world's youngest person to independently develop his own app. Read more about Jonathan's ambitious leap into world history, here.

Farewell Ron and Margaret

Maumee Valley says goodbye to two beloved pillars of the faculty community, Ron Euton and Margaret Blackburn. Ron, who taught Upper School science, history, coached volleyball, and at times ran amok in the chemistry lab, retired after 46 years of faithful service. Margaret Blackburn, who spent the past 29 years teaching Upper School French, Lower School Spanish and coached track and field leaves Maumee Valley to pursue a full-time teaching position at St. Francis Academy in Toledo, Ohio. Read more about other "faculty graduations" on the website.

Those who knew Ron and Margaret are invited to a "Farewell Celebration" on-campus on June 29th at 6pm. Please email Kim Bedi for more information: kbedi@mvcds.org.

2012 Graduation Excercises

Members of the graduating class said goodbye to one another at the 2012 graduation exercises held on June 1st. It was a cold and rainy night on the bluestone plaza outside Wolfe Gallery, but the graduates soldiered through the wet and damp to receive their hard-earned diplomas. Upper School English teacher, Joshua Lavetter-Keidan was this year's selected graduation speaker. Find out where the students plan to attend college and view photos from graduation, here.
