The festivities began on the evening of Tuesday, May 15th with the KDS Senior Baccalaureate Service held in the Nan Roberts Lane Chapel. This special ceremony provides seniors with the opportunity to reflect fondly on their time at KDS and to share with their classmates a well wish for the future.
Senior Awards Day on Friday, May 18th provided a time to recognize graduating seniors for their achievements and to award them scholarships which will enable them to pursue their future goals.

KDS Middle School Media Center
by KDS Librarian Myra Morrison
The KDS Middle School Library media program is a central part of our school. We continue to improve, with the tremendous support of the DAR, even though money from the state is nonexistent. To stay current and meet the needs of all of our students, the library has to continually purchase new reference, nonfiction, and fiction books, and any other materials that supplement the students' learning. This year with the support of several DAR Chapters, we were able to purchase 30 copies of each of the three books of the Hunger Games Series.

If you have a "Did You Know?" article about KDS School, the Grant community, or the state of Alabama that you would like to share with readers of our monthly newsletter, submit it to Heather Green at hgreen@nehp.net. If you have pictures in a digital format that relate to the article, submit them along with the article. Many of our readers are new to the area and do not know the wonderful, rich history of KDS School and the Town of Grant. I am sure they will be enlightened with something that you know and take for granted that everyone else knows too. |
