We drove over to the Kenyan coast at Mombasa. Ex-pats call Mombasa the 'city of many smells'...an understatement!

We stopped and took in the view of the Indian Ocean and then we were back in the Land Cruiser. We left Kenya at Lunga Lunga and crossed into Tanzania at Horohoro...somewhat akin to Indy Indy and the Temple of Doom. | | Horohoro border crossing |

From there we were on our way to Tanga on the coast. We saw a newly paved road. Please notice the verb; we SAW a newly paved road for four hours...we however, travelled on the shoulders through potholes, red dust and sand dunes. This is Africa!

In Tanga we saw people doing the 'normal' jobs we see people doing all over the world...like carrying their eggs to market.
