Free Thoughts

Every man's life ends the same way. It is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguish one man from another.

Volume 2, Letter 28

July 2, 2012

Another point of controversy in medicine and politics is the danger of pesticides.  While the government continues to deny the risks of pesticides to human health, studies continue to emerge that put holes in their belief of safety.

I have had repeated questions in my office regarding this topic.  He are some methods to reduce exposure as the evidence regarding safety mounts:

1) Wash all produce regardless of type, i.e. peeled and unpeeled fruit/vegetables.

2) Take off your shoes when entering your home to reduce the introduction of chemicals into your home environment.  They take longer to degrade without sun and water exposure.

3) Be aware of agricultural spraying in your area and stay indoors when it occurs.

4) Do not use pesticides, herbicides or rodenticides in your house living area.

5) Help your child's school be chemical free.  Website

6) Buy organic produce.  Look at EWG's dirty dozen list.

My take home point today: Be pesticide free,

Why we care?

Take this week to practice listening to your children or spouse when they hurt.  Try not to dismiss their hurt as ridiculous or silly despite what you think.  Everyone comes form a different place with different experiences.

Being strong does  not equate to squashing their feelings to build them up.

You do not need to validate their pain only accept it and be there for them emotionally.  Let them sort out the feelings with your guidance - (if it is even necessary).

This will allow them to see life as real.  This will allow them to feel and learn how to deal with life in a productive way.

Learning how to parent and be a good husband everyday,
