You may have heard about the challenges faced by the British Chiropractic Association, their lawsuit with a young scientist named Simon Singh, the media fallout and ensuing events which led to "one in three UK chiropractors facing formal disciplinary proceedings from its regulator, the General Chiropractic Council," as noted in a recent report on the events.
Dr Richard Brown, a chiropractor and lawyer practising in the United Kingdom was President of the British Chiropractic Association (BCA) during its libel court case with Simon Singh. Last fall, at the 2011 Conference of the Chiropractic and Osteopathic College of Australasia in Melbourne, Australia, Dr. Brown gave a speech titled After the Storm: Strategic Objectives in Europe, in which he reflects both on his experiences and overall lessons learnt from the case.
In its November issue of The Chiropractic Report, the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) re-printed, with permission After the Storm: Strategic Objectives in Europe. David Chapman-Smith, WFC Secretary-General and Editor/Publisher of the Report, has kindly allowed the OCA to circulate this issue of the Report to our members for your information.
