Attitudes towards Chiropractic: An Analysis of Written Comments from a Survey of North American Orthopaedic Surgeons
This publication includes an analysis of Canadian and American orthopaedic surgeons' attitudes towards chiropractic. A 43-item cross-sectional survey was administered to 1,000 orthopaedic surgeons from Canada and the United States. Approximately half of those surveyed referred at least some patients for chiropractic care each year. A number of common themes emerged from this analysis. View article >> |

Chiropractic Role in Primary Care
Recently, the Ontario government established the Excellent Care for All Strategy to build and enforce a culture of evidence-based care today to ensure health system sustainability for future generations. As part of the strategy, provincial initiatives were sought out to enhance patient care, improve on wait times and reduce inappropriate diagnostic utilization. One of the initiatives funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) is a pilot project for a consulting chiropractor role in a primary care setting to assist physicians in the management of lower back pain (LBP).
Developed in conjunction with the OCA, this innovative project aims to advance greater integration within collaborative, primary health care settings. The pilot project began in September 2011 and involves four chiropractors working with four medical clinics in a consulting capacity to support LBP management at the primary care level before, rather than after, a referral to advanced imaging and medical specialists. MD/DC Communications Workshop - Dec. 7,
Mississauga
Interprofessional communication and collaboration has become a key component of today's health care system and is essential for improving continuity and quality of patient care. Recognizing this, the OCA has collaborated with CMCC to create an interactive, hands-on workshop to help advance inter-professional MD/DC communications and relations. The session will be facilitated by two MD/DC teams who currently work collaboratively in practice.
