Greetings!
With my time at the cottage coming to an end and school supply shopping on my to-do list, I am reminded that summer is almost over. It is during these last few weeks of summer that I try to maximize my activities to get the most of the remaining few days. I feel as if I'm going 100 miles per hour to pack as much fun as I can into a week or less. Don't get me wrong, I do love the fall, and look forward to the leaves changing and the cooler days. But, while I look forward to the future, it is hard to let go of the past - sounds like the way we feel with a lot of other areas of our lives, doesn't it? So, in order to make sure I get the most out of summer, I have put together my list of things that will make it all possible and yet keep me sane. Here's to hoping that they help you as well!

10 Last Minute Summer Must-Do's
|

Working for myself allows me the flexibility to adjust my schedule, something I am most appreciative of. Today I want to share with you a few things I have done, or am planning to do, to make sure I am fully present to experience this wonderful time of year, and prepare for the next phase ahead!
1. Wake A Bit Earlier
I'll be honest with you, as the summer progresses, the time I get up gets later and later. To prepare myself for early morning starts again (during most of the year I get up at 6 am), I start to get up a bit earlier every morning. The mornings are still bright, the morning air is a little cool, and I love this time of year for a morning jog.
2. Meditation
While my meditation practice during the year tends to be a bit spotty with more commitments and priorities, I am using these last few weeks to make sure I meditate every day. I have a recorded meditation on my i-Pod that I love, and I make a point of carving out time each day to listen to it.

This summer I read Shania Twain's book From This Moment on - and it was a great summer read. Honestly, I can't say I am aware of her music, but the book kept popping out at me, in book stores, in grocery stores, saw other people reading it...so I had to pick it up! Shania came from a hard upbringing - extreme poverty growing up in Canada, both parents dying in a car accident etc. This story is a great example of someone coming from extreme contrast, and from that was able to achieve great things. I'd recommend the book!
