Greetings!
Often I share a lot of info in my newsletter intro. I use this space as a personal note to you to share what is happening in my personal and business life, explain the significance of that week's article or promote events and programs. But, this week is different.
This week I want to share with you a personal struggle that I am facing. So, I won't be going into a long intro here. I think this article will speak for itself. You may be dealing with similar challenges yourself and I hope that by sharing my experiences, it will help you.
Thanks!

Sometimes Being Selfish is the Best Thing You Can Do

Someone close to me is very sick. It is not easy to find my balance when I am watching someone I care about suffering with an illness. Even though I have known this person for many, many years I cannot begin to understand what they must be going through, only my own feelings are truly available to me.
I have strong ideas about what needs to be done to get well, but I somehow believe that expressing them is going to hurt more than help - but what I do know is that I have to keep myself balanced during this very difficult time.
I cannot think for this person, and I cannot create their reality. What I am able to do however is think for myself, and create my reality. This may sound selfish but it isn't. You've heard me use the airplane scenario of putting on your own oxygen mask first - that has never been a more appropriate example than in this situation. If I am not mentally or physically healthy, I cannot help my friend. I can be of the most use to them if I can keep myself balanced.
My tendency is to think, "'l will do everything I can to keep myself balanced - and then I will influence my friend into recovery". But somehow, this still doesn't feel right to me. Gradually I am learning to change this thinking to, "I will do everything I can to keep myself balanced, and then I am strongest to influence my friend into their balance, and then allow them to choose the right path for them."
Can you feel the difference in these statements?
I believe that many illnesses are caused by someone wanting something that they don't feel they can achieve - a vibrational imbalance so to speak...

The Shack by Wm. Paul Young
This book was one of my summer reads and I absolutely LOVED it. It is the story of a painful, yet healing journey for one man, taking him from the darkest moments of his life and guiding him to a place filled with light and hope.
from Amazon.com: "Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever."

Inspirational Quote
"Tell everyone you know:'My happiness depends on me, so you're off the hook.' And then demonstrate it. Be happy, no matter what they're doing. Practice feeling good no matter what. And before you know it, you will not give anyone else responsibility for the way you feel -- and then, you'll love them all. Because the only reason you don't love them, is because you're using them as your excuse to not feel good."
