  • The Creating Hope Act will help children affected by rare diseases secure access to new life saving medicines.

  • On May 30, Congressman Butterfield spoke at the Congressional Black Caucus Faith Leaders Summit held in conjunction with the Conference of National Black Churches.

Promoting Clean Energy and Job Creation

  • Butterfield called on public and private sector leaders to develop a national energy plan during the Nuclear Energy Institute's Annual Nuclear Energy Assembly in Charlotte.
  • Butterfield's address highlighted the significant economic benefits of investing in alternative and renewable energies.
  • He emphasized how an energy policy would decrease American dependence on foreign oil and stimulate job growth in rural America. Butterfield also introduced the concept of a new energy future that would require public and private partnerships, research universities, and community colleges working together to prepare our country to compete in a new energy economy.
  • The Congressman reminded industry leaders and experts of the negative effects of rising energy costs to low- and middle-income Americans, noting that a new energy future must lower energy costs.
