February is American Heart Month and the shortest month of the year. Each year more than a million Americans have heart attacks and about a half million people die from heart diseases.  Take time this month to learn more about heart disease and how diet, nutrition, and exercise are your best weapons to fight the disease.

Getting Through the Pile

paperwork

Are you trying to find time to read and review the 100-300 resumes for your recent job posting? Or are you finding it difficult to dwindle the pile to the top 3-5 qualified candidates?  And if you're either one of those, are you trying to do all that along with your other responsibilities?

If so,we can help. We begin by discussing the essential and desired qualifications and core competencies for your open position. We then review the resumes and select the most qualified candidates. Next we conduct phone screens or face-to-face interviews with the most qualified candidates.  Upon completion of those interviews, we recommend the top 3-5 candidates to be interviewed by your team and hiring manager.

Typically, we set up a few check points with our clients to be sure we are on track.  We can also assist you in any other aspects of the selection process and closing out the position as necessary. We do all this for you at a reasonable cost, so you can get on with the responsibilities you were hired to perform.

No project or job is too small or big for us to handle. Email us at jlentner@coremanage.com or call 763.559.0977 to discuss how we can help you get through the pile and select the top candidates. We want to help you hire the best from that stack of 100-300 resumes.

Know How to Stand Out

key

Employers are getting 100+ resumes per postings these days, and it's very important that your resume stands out and lands at the top of the pile. Do you know how to get your resume to land at the top of the pile?

First of all, it's important to satisfy your reader. The reader is typically the hiring manager and/or a team of interviewers who knows the job and has the ability to select the best candidate. It's important to make it easy for the hiring manager and other interviewers to quickly see how your skills and experience translate to the best qualified candidate for the job.

Another way is putting keywords in your resume. If the job posting is well-written, the keywords will be obvious. However, sometimes it's hard to pick out the keywords, and/or know exactly how to display them in your resume. For example, two requirements for a Sales Representative are: the ability to understand and communicate features of products, and to effectively interact with customers.  Your resume should highlight that you are a results-oriented, highly-motivated Sales Representative with proven experience using business-to-business sales and relationship skills in a competitive environment. You could also add that you are a professional presenter and effective communicator.  Make accurate statements of the things you've done, and format them in a way that's eye-catching and visible to the reader within 20 seconds.

Last but not least, resumes should always be easy to read and follow. When readers have to study a resume to determine if you are qualified for the position, your resume will most likely land in the 'no' pile.

Determining the layout of your resume depends on your field of interest, education, experience, associations etc.

So is your resume ready to land to the top of the 'yes' pile? We can help you satisfy the reader, place keywords in the right areas of your resume, format your resume to be eye-catching, and make sure it's easy to read and follow.

Send your resume to jlentner@coremanage.com and we will give you feedback for FREE. We can tell you whether or not your resume is ready to land on top.

We would like to thank all of you who continue to make Core Management Search a success.
