High Praise
Our Center for Trauma Program Innovation has been singled out for its delivery of high-quality care, treatment, and rehabilitative services by the NYS Office of Mental Health. This year's Statewide Comprehensive Plan for Mental Health Services, compiled by OMH, pointed to our CTPI for our services to adults, children, and families coping after trauma. The Statewide Comprehensive Plan stresses how CTPI strengthens the agency's clinical practice and service programs by providing a systematic approach to trauma-focused program development that is used throughout the agency as well as in other agencies. Congratulations to Dr. Paula Panzer and her team.

Kincare
The Brooklyn Grandparents' Coalition and Long Island University sponsored a free forum on Friday, October 8, 2010, for relative caregivers entitled: "Help Starts here: Saving Teens in Crisis." Caregivers learned about substance abuse prevention, gang awareness, dating violence, bullying, and Internet safety.

A Time to Heal
The Fall Jewish Holidays are over, and for some of us, that's a relief. The pressure to think of this time as joyous sometimes runs counter to reality. JBFCS offers many programs to those in need through many trying times. There are bereavement support groups, seminars for those affected by the economic downturn, and downloadable fact sheets. JBFCS wants to help those who hurt through emotion-filled days via our Jewish Connections programs. The renewal of spirit, the renewal of body, the renewal of mind—all of these are reflected throughout the year and approached with love and tenderness when the services of Jewish Connections are accessed.

A Tribute to a New York Political Hero
Assembly member Peter Rivera (D-Bronx) was named Speaker Pro Tempore of the New York State Assembly Committee on Mental Health and JBFCS was there to honor him. Paul Levine, members of the Board, and clients from the Bronx REAL program presented Assembly member Rivera with a plaque recognizing his commitment to the mental health stability of the people of New York.
