Capsaicin itself is being studied as a treatment for pain associated with arthritis, psoriasis, and diabetic neuropathy.
Another 2006 study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that if a meal contains chili pepper, it reduces the amount of insulin required to lower blood sugar after the meal. Further, when chili is a regular part of the diet, insulin requirements are reduced even further.
