Green Worldwide News
Greetings!

In an effort to keep our clients informed, we are sending you this email in hopes that you find it relevant and useful to your business.

Merchandise Processing Fee to Increase

Currently most all of your imports are assessed a Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) upon importation.  This fee is charged at 0.21% of the commercial value, with a minimum charge of $25.00 and a maximum charge of $485.00.  This fee is detailed in block 39 of your Entry Summary form (CF75010.

With recent legislation passed (H.R. 2832), MPF will be raised to 0.3464%, but will retain the same minimum and the same maximum as it does now.  Currently, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is in the process of modifying their system to accept the new MPF rate.  At the present time, CBP does not have an exact date of when the system changes will be completed. CBP has stated that they will provide the trade at least one week advanced notice of the final implementation date.  As soon as CBP has implemented this change we will let you know.

Trans-Pacific Eastbound  "Winter Vessel Withdrawal Program"

Due to weaker demand expected for the latter part of this year and into the first quarter 2012, most carriers are implementing a "Winter Vessel Withdrawal Program." The reduced capacity and a sudden "spike" after Chinese National Holiday have made space, especially for USWC, very tight. We recommend all our clients to advise their suppliers to make bookings at least two weeks in advance.

On October 21, 2011, the President signed H.R. 2832, which extends the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) program through July 31, 2013. The GSP program, having lapsed December 31, 2010, has been retroactively renewed allowing for a refund of all duties paid on GSP-eligible merchandise that was entered or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption during the period from January 1, 2011 through November 4, 2011.

Walk to End Alzheimers

This year, to support those affected by Alzheimer's, Green Worldwide Shipping participated in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's™ to raise f
unds and awareness to fight this disease on October 8th.

The Alzheimer's Association®, the world's leading voluntary organization in Alzheimer's research, care and support, is dedicated to finding prevention methods, treatments and an eventual cure for the disease.

Green Worldwide raised over $2,800 with 50 participants taking part in the walks in Atlanta, Chicago, and Los Angeles.  We want to thank all though who took part and donated to this worthy cause.
