Trans-Pacific Eastbound Peak Season Surcharge - postponed

The previously announced Peak Season Surcharge on the Trans-Pacific Westbound trade has once again been postponed. Some carriers have postponed until August 1 and others until August 15.  We will continue to monitor the implementation date and PSS amounts.

China Port Congestion

Due to severe weather the past couple of weeks the ports of Qingdao, Shanghai, and Ningbo are experiencing congestion and consequently delays.  Currently, we are seeing delays of two to three days.  The Port of Qingdao has been closed on average three days per week the last fourweeks due to dense fog which does not allow ship's berthing and normal terminal operations.

Possible Traffic Restrictions During Universiade Shenzhen 2011

The Universiade, an international multi-sport event organized for university athletes, will be held in Shenzhen on 12 - 23 August 2011.  Although this event is of a relatively smaller scale than the Beijing Olympic Games, Shanghai World Expo, and Guangzhou Asian Games, we do expect a number of traffic restrictions to be enforced during the event. We encourage you to work closely with your factories to plan around possible restrictions on road transportation and the ability of trucks to reach Chiwan, Shekou and Yantian ports.
