Liquidated Damages Releated to ISF to Begin Soon
CBP headquarters is currently reviewing cases against non-filers and those with "egregious" errors. There will reportedly be no notice to the trade community when the liquidated damages will actually be issued. According to CBP, liquidated damages were to be expected in April or sometime in May.
While it seems CBP will be focusing on importers who consistently fail to file ISF's timely and accurately, it is advisable that you make sure your suppliers have procedures in place to ensure necessary ISF information is forwarded to the right parties for filing.

High Diesel Prices Increasing Transport Costs
The high cost of fuel has been a hot topic in the news lately with the price of gasoline exceeding $3.80 per gallon and diesel approaching $4.30 per gallon in some areas of the country. This has had a major impact on costs borne by carriers. Ultimately, this has resulted in higher fuel surcharge rates with some domestic FCL and LTL carriers charging over 35% in FSC.
Indications are that the high prices will continue through the summer. We will continue to keep you updated on the situation. |
