We all have favorite love stories from history, from books, or the movies, and I wanted to share mine with you as we approach the lovely holiday of Valentine's Day.
Judith Sargent of Gloucester, Massachusetts, and John Murray of Alton, England. A loving, eighteenth century power couple if ever there was one who adored, supported, and cared for each other with respect and affection. They had what we all want and deserve, and their story is here!
And...You're invited to the Old Town Hall Lectures!
And if you are in the North Shore/Cape Ann/Greater Boston area, please come to the kick-off Old Town Hall Lecture in Salem, Massachusetts, presented by Gordon College! It takes place on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at Salem's Old Town Hall (details here) and it features Donald Friary in character as the Rev. William Bentley.
Bentley was a gossip, diarist, and eighteenth-century Unitarian minister who knew - and discussed! - "everyone" in Salem during the Great Age of Sail including the Derbys and Crowninshields. Friary is the retired director of Historic Deerfield, and knows his subject well. Please join us!
Tickets are $10 at the door, and $5 for students, or online through the OTH Lectures website. AND, if you're smart and planning ahead, you can subscribe to all five lectures NOW and save $10!!!
Happy Valentine's Day to all, and I hope your life is filled with love and good works.
Be well and be in touch!
