Greetings!

OK - The day is today when I make my very special announcement!

For a few weeks now I've been telling you about my ebook on how to do your business history, and I am pleased to tell you that I am making it available at the pre-publication price of $29.97 starting today and only lasting for a week and a half.

Why? Because I feel so strongly about this work I want to make it as easy as possible to get you involved.

Why? Because I feel passionately about having more people, more money, more vision, and more heart connected to the local history in our communities.

And guess what? That's the added value that comes from doing your business history! Yes, there are business benefits, but  there are personal benefits as well. (You can read more thoughts below, or watch the video.)

So, I invite you to take advantage of my possible lapse in judgment by learning more about my ebook here! It's called A Source of Pride (and Customers). A Historian's Guide to Doing Your Business History.

And one more thing to consider....When you make your business history personal, when you can make emotional connections with people, you're really in business! (A great example in Article 2.)

I hope you're enjoying this long-awaited Spring. I sure am, every day. Living and working on the North Shore is a joy!

Be well, and be in touch!

The Bonus of Doing Your Business History?
Being of Service!
Source of Pride
Pride, customers, and being of service all come from doing your business history!

by Bonnie Hurd Smith

I write and speak a lot about how doing your business history can benefit your business.

· You get your unique story out into the world.

· You discover all kinds of new opportunities for marketing, PR, events, and products.

· You go a long way toward cementing the "know, like, trust" factor that draws people to you and keeps them there.

· You instill pride in your employees.

· If you're a family owned business, you get to honor your family.

But here's the added bonus. Doing your business history enables you to be of service to your community - and I have a feeling that's important to you.

How can this play out?

· By working with the historical organizations in your community you will establish strategic partnerships that will last a long, long time. You each have something to offer the other, and you can bring resources to these organizations - your expertise, your support through your business, and, yes, your money. (Continued here)

Why You Must Make Your Business History Personal
Birthday with Spooky
Birthday party with Spooky the Owl at Boston's Museum of Science

by Bonnie Hurd Smith

The other day I visited the Museum of Science in Boston - one of my all-time favorite places, and, yes, my former employer.

I was there to spend time with a friend of mine on staff  (who shall remain nameless) and he told me to be sure and see their new exhibit on the history of the museum.

He confessed that he had not originally been in favor of the exhibit, but he was talked into it. But now that he's observed people going through the exhibit and heard their comments, he knows how much people love the exhibit and he "got it."

"They love the exhibit because history is personal," he told me. And he's right! (Continued here

I might even feature your business or organization here, because others could benefit from the information!

If you're a nonprofit, you are also a business. Ask away! And if you're a historical nonprofit, do you have questions about how what we do can provide you with new revenue streams?
