Greetings!

Dear

Well it's that time of year again. I have the irresistible desire to go out and buy new notebooks, pens, and paper. Yes, I was one of those kids who loved school, and I doubt the back-to-school euphoria will ever end! Do you feel the same way?

But back to business.... Have you signed up for our free conference call on celebrating business milestones? My co-presenters, Sandi Watkins and Gwen Ryan, and I would love to share our ideas with you and answer questions. You can easily register here. Please join us - and come with questions or share your own experiences.

On a more personal note, I am so pleased to tell you that my brief biography of the 18th-century essayist Judith Sargent Murray is in the final stages and will be available from History Smiths within a couple of weeks. It's an EBook, which you can easily download and read in a couple of hours. It is based on many years of research, as some of you know, but I've written it to engage, enlighten and inspire. I hope you will be incensed that you weren't taught more about this important figure in American history!

And speaking of being engaged by and in history, this week's articles offer another way your business can celebrate a historical milestone, and also how you can take advantage of historical holidays.

So many opportunities out there for you!

Be in touch, and be well.

So often, when businesses celebrate an anniversary, they host a reception in their own office space. This decision may or may not be a good idea. Does your office space project the right image for your business? Is the location convenient? Is the space too small or too cluttered for your guests, food, and entertainers? Are there privacy issues? Will prospective clients come to your event when they know they will be "sold to" because, after all, they are in your office space?

There are all kinds of function spaces you can rent, but if you are celebrating an anniversary - meaning, a key event in your business's history - why not use the opportunity to connect with your historical community?...

How Your Business Can Benefit
from Supporting Historical Holidays
National Women's History Month Poster
National Women's History Month Poster

There are lots of them out there - weeks, months, and days devoted to recognizing something historical. In the U.S., we have Black History Month (February), Women's History Month (March), Preservation Week (May), and the list goes on. Globally, we have International Women's Day on March 8.

Because my historical expertise is in women's history, I will focus on March for the moment. But the larger point, which applies across the board, is: Where can you make connections between your business and these nationally and internationally designated historical holidays? How can you get involved and call attention to your business?... Read the article!
