Second of a five-part book discussion series, Lets Talk About It: Making Sense of the American Civil War will be lead by Dr. Stephen Warren, Associate Professor of History, Augustana College. The legacy of Americas Civil War will be discussed with selections from Americas War: Talking About the Civil War and Emancipation on Their 150th Anniversaries, an anthology of historical fiction, speeches, diaries, memoirs, biographies, and short stories edited by Edward L. Ayers. Lets Talk About It: Making Sense of the American Civil War, a reading and discussion series, has been made possible through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association. Travel free of charge to America's Civil War battlefields Michael Weeks, an amateur historian with a passion for the road, has driven tens of thousands of miles across the United States in order to experience first-hand the amazing stories that history has to offer. Mr. Weeks will discuss his travels to battlefields and other Civil War related sites with a slideshow. He has published two books, The Complete Civil War Road Trip Guide and Civil War Road Trip: A Guide to Northern Virginia, Maryland & Pennsylvania which will available for purchase and signing.The program is open to all ages.
