Safety and Operations of Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (HAWK)
This device is a pedestrian-activated beacon located on the roadside and on mast arms over the major approaches to an intersection. A before and after study was done and the data indicates that significant changes were found after the HAWK was installed: a 29 percent reduction in total crashes and a 69 percent reduction in pedestrian crashes. Webinar speakers: Richard Nassi and Kay Fitzpatrick.

The Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) increases yielding to pedestrians at marked crosswalks that traverse multilane roads with moderate to high vehicle volumes. Data indicate that these signs are significantly more effective than the standard pedestrian activated flashing warning beacon.  Speaker:  Ron VanHouten

This webinar will review the origin of the HAWK and RRFB, along with current installation and operational experiences. It will also present findings regarding motorist yielding and safety. To register, go to https://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/226126370.
