Support SB375 (Sustainable Communities Act) Greenhouse Gas Reductions; Go to July 20-23 CARB Meetings
Learn about your region's draft target greenhouse gas emissions climate action. Act to include investments in walking and walkable communities to provide Californians with the option to walk the 25% of all trips which are less than 1 mile in length and take transit for the 50% of all trips which are 5 miles or less. These are the trips (along with travel over 55 mph) which generate the most carbon due to the high emissions from starting the car.

Send a letter to CARB urging the setting of aggressive emissions reductions targets that achieve the goals of AB32 by each metropolitan planning and transportation organization through the adoption of a sustainable community strategy. Go to http://www.climateplanca.org/becomeapartner.html.
Join California WALKS in fighting climate action by adding a walk instead of a drive!

California WALKS Partners with United Seniors of Oakland and Alameda County
California WALKS is proud to partner with the United Seniors of Oakland and Alameda County (USOAC) to conduct four pedestrian safety workshops with a focus on older adults! We are working with the senior walking clubs organized by USOAC and the Walkable Neighborhoods for Seniors program to support and host the workshops.

USOAC is a non-profit organization that grew out of an organizing project in 1986 undertaken by and for elderly persons. They work to increase community involvement, develop older adult leadership capacity, and address broad based older adult issues. In addition to the walking clubs, USOAC also provides Travel Training for older adults interested in learning how to use local and reginal public transit. Older adults in this program learn how to ride Alameda County's public transit to get where they want to go and back with confidence and independence. USOAC is here to guide and train participants in obtaining the necessary skills to ride public transportation with ease.
