Enterprise Learning Strategy
Announcing Dave Basarab Consulting

Greetings!

Highly effective learning is necessary to accelerate an organization's performance and enable its people to adopt new concepts, actions, and behaviors that maximize business success. But with budget cuts and other recession-era challenges, it can be tough to justify training's value and ROI on learning investments

I understand present-day business challenges and sincerely believe that the right learning initiatives can actually impact business results with 200-300% ROI. That's why I've just launched Dave Basarab Consulting (www.davebasarab.com), where I'm expanding my service offerings and providing my clients with proven solutions.

I strongly believe that the most important "pillars" in an effective, successful corporate learning approach include strategy, predicting value, design & delivery, training transfer, and evaluation. Now, Dave Basarab Consulting offers all of these services, as well as other solutions that powerfully impact business results. As an accomplished senior learning executive, trainer, evaluator, author, teacher, and thought leader, I'm uniquely positioned to help companies create the right training, that leads to the right intentions (goals and beliefs), and adoptive behaviors that maximize impact.

Effective training programs are those that are highly interactive, participatory, memorable and engaging, and my programs do just that. My unique perspective, innovative methodologies, key differentiators and proven, multi-pronged approach to learning includes the following:

Enterprise Learning Strategy - Learning investments require long-term focus and need to balance the tradeoffs between profits today for greater future returns. Dave Basarab Consulting provides a 3-5 year strategic framework for the identification, design, development, deployment, and evaluation of a results-driven curriculum.

Custom Training - We specialize in developing custom world-class training programs across all industries, audiences, and competencies, using the most innovative learning methods and processes to help organizations achieve their goals. We then deliver high energy, memorable learning experiences that increase employee performance.

Predictive Evaluation - My Predictive Evaluation (PE) methodology is the first and only training and evaluation approach that adds the element of prediction. Trainers and business leaders can use PE to successfully predict training's results, value, intention, adoption and impact to make smarter, more strategic training and evaluation investments. (And my new book on this subject means that I literally wrote the book on Predictive Evaluation.) I help my clients maximize their training ROI.

Training Transfer - I always encourage organizations to think beyond training sessions to ensure the information "sticks" and will be used effectively in the workplace. I offer a total emersion learning experience that emphasizes training transfer, which drives adoption, which drives impact (company value).

Dave Basarab Consulting also offers a variety of other valuable business services, including "traditional" training evaluations, meeting facilitation and more.

I'd welcome the opportunity to connect with you so I can explain in greater detail how the right training approach can help get a bigger bang for your organizations' training bucks and more effectively demonstrate learning ROI. For more information or to schedule time to talk, please contact me at valelearn@gmail.com.

And be sure to check out my brand new website at www.davebasarab.com, which provides more information about my company and services.

Book Recommendation Good Company

What makes a good company? Those of us in business have been asking this question for decades.  For publicly traded firms the answer is return on shareholder value - in its simplest form this usually means increase in stock price or earning per share over a period of time.  I believe most business leaders would agree with me.  The age old questions that senior executive wrestle with is how do you that?  What are the traits of a firm that consistently produces shareholder value?  Can we do that at our firm?

Laurie Bassi and Dan McMurrer in their just released book Good Company - Business Success in the Worthiness Era may just have cracked the code.  They prove that a firm that rates high in three attributes will see its stock outperform those that rate low.  Laurie and Dan show that the attributes that make up a Good Company are: Good Seller, Good Employer, and Good Steward.  Check the details of a good company at their website.

I have read the book and have the pleasure to work with Laurie and Dan.  Their ability to assess where firms stand in their Good Company Index and work with them to create strategic plans is outstanding.  The book is a must read for any executive (large or small firm) but just as important to have an Good Company assessment done on your company so that you can put plans in place to create outstanding shareholder value.

Stratgey

All major firms spend a great deal of time, money, and resources to develop their company's strategies but few take the effort to create a supporting learning plan (strategy).

We tend to "throw" courses at employees versus creating a comprehensive, 3-5 year plan that when implemented increases employee performance in the areas that are directly aligned with that strategy.

The good news is that there is a proven methodology for creating an Enterprise Learning Strategy for your company. It involves a five-step process:

Training Evaluation and the Financial Goals of the Firm

Many business leaders define the ultimate financial goal of a firm as "to maximize shareholder wealth" or "the creation of shareholder wealth."  Both terms may be used interchangeably but essentially the goal is to have the price of its stock as high as possible.  In order for a company's stock to grow in value you must have profitable growth.

How can training evaluation enable profitable growth?
