Greetings!
In today's Tech Tips, we will apply some of the hotkeys and techniques introduced in previous Tech Tips to FlexMLS.

Ctrl + Mouse Wheel:  When you first login to FlexMLS you arrive at what is called the Dashboard.  Although each member can customize their Dashboard, the technique for changing the size of the contents of a webpage (Ctrl + Mouse Wheel) works on any dashboard, FlexMLS screen, or FlexMLS report.  Try it out.  Especially try it out on a Detail report.  Even the property photo changes size as you rotate the mouse wheel while holding down the Control key.  This can be useful, especially when using an office computer that is shared with others, as shared computers may not be set to your preference.

F11:  While in FlexMLS, press the F11 key.  You will notice the toolbars (along the top) and the task bar (along the bottom) give way to a full display of FlexMLS.  This may especially come in handy while displaying listings to the public.

Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V (Copy and Paste):  You can use your imagination here, because anything from a Full Report (for example) can be copied.  However, sometimes you may only need to copy an ML# to be used later.  You just select it, then Ctrl + C.  If you want to just hang on to it for a while, you can paste in into Notepad.  This technique would be useful when collecting several ML#s to be used later.

Ctrl + F:  (You might want to call it 'Super Search')If you have never used Ctrl + F in FlexMLS, you just might be thrilled at its ability to save you time.  Let's say that you have 16 listings you are focusing on, and now you would like to (outside the functionality of FlexMLS) search on keywords, regardless of what field is holding the keywords.  Follow these steps:
  1. With the listings selected, click the Print icon in the upper-right of the FlexMLS screen, and then select Preview.

  2. Allow a moment for all 16 listings to load on your scrollable page.

  3. Now is the time for Ctrl + F.  In the lower-left corner of your browser (the location may vary, depending on the browser you are using) you should see a place to enter keyword(s) for searching.

  4. Enter the keyword(s) and press Enter.  If the keyword appears in any of the 16 listings, the first occurrence should be highlighted on a particular listing. To go to the next occurrence, just click on the Next arrow. However, if as you were typing the keyword you hear a sound and/or the box highlights, this is an indication that the keyword does not exist in any of the listings.

Once you use this a few times you should quickly see the great benefit.  This technique for searching may not be needed everyday.  But when you are searching for something that may be obscure, the Ctrl + F search will work every time.

As you can see, these hotkeys and techniques have very practical applications in your daily computer work, whether working in FlexMLS or many other application.  They are a time-saver, limited only by your imagination.
