Coming Wednesday, June 15th: FlexMLS's Listing Error Report feature
On Wednesday, June 15th a new feature in FlexMLS called "Listing Error Report" will be available to all MLS users. If you find an error in a listing, you will be able to immediately report it anonymously. The report will be sent from FlexMLS to the listing agent, co-listing agent, the broker, and the MLS. The purpose of enabling this feature is to improve the quality of listing data by allowing members to easily and anonymously notify fellow agents concerning the error. Because brokers ultimately bear the responsibility for accurate listings, a copy is sent to the broker.
Now that you have an overview of the new feature, there are two obvious questions :
Q1: What should you do if you receive a listing error report, but the listing in question has no error?
A1: Keep in mind that the purpose of the feature is to improve the quality of listing data. If the data in your listing is technically accurate, then you may choose to ignore the report, or you may look for a clearer and more concise way of expressing the same information to avoid confusion.
Q2: Is receiving a FlexMLS Listing Error Report synonymous with being reported for having an MLS violation (fine-able or otherwise)?
A2: No. The report is not punitive in nature. The Listing Error Report feature is a means of member-to-member communications, to improve the quality of listing data. Although the MLS receives a copy of the reports, we will be monitoring the use and benefit of the feature itself.
