- Natural Disaster - Abnormal Operating Condition
An Abnormal Operating Condition (AOC) is a condition in which operating design limits are exceeded or when an operating condition or event occurs that could cause a hazard to persons, property or the environment if not corrected.
A natural disaster is a form of an AOC. Many types of natural disasters occur around the world. One of these can be a tornado. The images above illustrate the damage tornados can cause in the Oil & Gas Industry. This EF 3 tornado hit in Notrees, Texas, and overturned a 70,000 pound pump jack.
It is extremely important that employees are able to recognize and react to Abnormal Operating Conditions. The first priority should always be to protect human life and then property.
If you have any questions regarding AOCs or if you would like to display any of your photos and the story behind them on our newsletter please contact Mayra Lujan at the link below.
