 A Message from Geoff...

Geoff Isbell

When I first started my career, mobile phones were the size of a brick, and mass communication tools like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and texting were not even concepts for new technology. Today, I am fascinated how we are able to communicate instantly, and share ideas and information through these types of media. I hope you can connect with us in the social media environment to share your ideas.  Send us an email, follow us on Twitter or learn more at www.energyworldnet.com.

While I love all the productivity that comes with technology, I still prefer interacting with each of you face to face. On November 1st and 2nd, ENERGY worldnet will host its Annual Conference at the Decatur Civic Center in Decatur, TX.  I personally invite you to participate in this event to share, learn and dialogue about our industry. We will have the opportunity to discuss the challenges, and how both technology and people skills can improve quality, safety and efficiency. See "Mark Your Calendar" below for more details.

Please join us- I look forward to seeing you there!

Best Regards,

Geoffrey Isbell

Training That Hits the Mark
Hit the Mark!

In the Operator Qualification Rule the CFR 49 Part 192.805(h) states after December 16, 2004, that industry provide training, as appropriate, to ensure that individuals performing covered tasks have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the tasks in a manner that ensures the safe operation of pipeline facilities. Training is part art and part science. Excellent training development encompasses both of these aspects to create learning environments that are effective and efficient.  Following the ENERGY worldnet Instructional Systems Design Model will help ensure that your customized courses result in training that is instructionally sound and effective.

There are many things ENERGY worldnet knows about adult learners - how they learn, how they recall information, how they remember skills, how they are alike, and how they are different. It makes sense to take advantage of this knowledge to ensure that your training hits the mark.

Did you know?

  • Adult learners tend to be problem centered and results oriented.
  • Each adult learner has a preferred style of thinking.
  • Learning style varies from person to person. Are you visual, auditory, kinesthetic or an environmental learner? What kind of learners are you training?
  • Adult learners prefer to connect their prior knowledge to what they are learning.
  • Adults want to know at the beginning of the learning event how what they are learning will affect their job.

As a result of participating in the ENERGY worldnet Instructional Design Program, you will be able to design and develop high- impact training courses with knowledgeable assistance every step of the way. EWN can help you be a leader in the field of adult learning. The Instructional Design Program will be debuting at the ENERGY worldnet Conference, November 1-2, 2011.
