ENERGY worldnet, Inc.May 2011
Although Memorial Day often marks the start of the summer vacation season, let us not forget that Memorial Day commemorates U.S. soldiers who died while in the military service.  First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War, it was extended after World War I to honor Americans who have died in all wars.  This year marks the sesquicentennial (150th) anniversary of the Civil War, 1861-65. Approximately 620,000 Americans died in that war - a number that exceeds our losses in all other wars from the Revolution through Vietnam.

On behalf of the entire ENERGY worldnet Team, we wish to honor those that have served and died for the values that make us uniquely American and we wish you all a safe and joyful holiday weekend.

Sincerely,

Geoffrey W. Isbell

Chief Operating Officer

ENERGY worldnet speaks at Common Ground Alliance (CGA) Excavation Safety Conference and EXPO
On March 9, Geoff Isbell, Brittany Lewis and Dick Hornback exhibited and spoke at the CGA Excavation Safety Annual Conference. The Common Ground Alliance (CGA) posted record numbers at it's 2011 Annual Meeting and CGA Excavation Safety Conference & Expo held March 8-10 in Orlando, FL.

"It was awesome to see so many stakeholders come together to support the CGA message of safety, " reported Bob Kipp, CGA president. CGA is a nonprofit, member-driven organization dedicated to establishing and promoting practices to prevent damage to the underground utility infrastructure.

The convention theme was 'Damage Prevention Is Good Business,' and will be the organization's focus throughout the year. The keynote address was presented by Timothy Butters, assistant administrator of the U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA).

The 2011 conference focused on new technologies.  Facility owners, contractors, representatives from regulatory agencies and others with a stake in preventing damage to underground facilities attended more than 100 exhibits, industry specific educational sessions, and a free Excavation Safety Day program for those unable to participate in the full conference. For those unable to attend, Version 8.0 of the CGA's Best Practices Field Guide can be downloaded from the CGA web site at www.commongroundalliance.com or by calling CGA's fulfillment contractor at (330) 533-1727.

ENERGY worldnet's conference session was titled "Top 10 Reasons to Not Fear Regulations, Training and Technology" and addressed: 1) Using Technology as a tool, 2) Job improvement utilizing technology, 3) How the Workforce embraces information technology, 4) Aging workforce, 5) Aging Infrastructure, 6) How training improves productivity and safety, 7) Operation Qualification (OQ) is a "best practice", 8) Identification of best performance, 9) Help and assistance via regulations, 10) Safety records are improving.

Brittany Lewis represented EWN at her first tradeshow. Brittany reports that "meeting industry customers and regulators in person is very rewarding after years of conversations by phone."

Shiela Moore - ENERGY worldnet's new Regional Account Executive.
                                                                                            Meet Sheila Moore
Sheila Moore
ENERGY worldnet would like to welcome and introduce Sheila Moore. Sheila is our newest Regional Account Executive for the Southeast Region of the United States.

Sheila has a strong background in sales, banking and real estate, but it is her personal hobby and family business that we found to be one of the extremely fascinating facets of Sheila Moore.

Sheila spends her free time promoting and competing in Cowboy Mounted Shooting, which is like barrel racing or pole bending while the rider shoots black powder blank cartridges from .45 caliber pistols, at balloons, and is scored on accuracy and time. Cowboy Mounted Shooters Association (CMSA) is one of the most rapidly growing equestrian sports in the USA.

Don Taylor joins our IT Department as EWN's Business Application Developer
Don Taylor
Don Taylor joined the ENERGY worldnet team on April 1, 2011 as our new Business Application Developer, but he is no stranger to EWN or the PRO II OQ System. Prior to becoming a full time employee, Don was actively engaged as an independent contractor with EWN for the past two and half years.   Don has also worked with EWN's IT Director, Jose Martinez, in various projects since the early 90's.  Don has been involved in web development for the past 20 years. He received his Bachelors of Science in Information Systems from the University of Texas in Arlington in 2002, and he served in the United States Navy from 1983 to 1987.

Don's first graphic web page was GTE.net and he said it was, "16 colors and 640x480 pixels, now we are at 1600x1200 pixels and 32bit true colors."  For most of us that may not mean anything, so Don went on to say, "...so that is a totally complete shift.  It is still about the content, but now we have a prettier way of delivering it."  (Author's comment: Was it the glazed look in my eyes that prompted the additional layman's explanation? I don't know, but thanks Don for making technology look easy!)

Don has been married for 26 years and has 3 children and 1 grandchild.  To offset all the time he spends at the computer screen, Don routinely trains and competes in triathlons and marathons, and he enjoys motorcycling and flying.

Farewell and Best Wishes to a Friend and Colleague

We bid a fond farewell to our beloved Mississippi or 'Sippi" Girl, Rhonda Dubois.

Rhonda has been a critical part of our company as our Eastern Regional Sales Executive for the past three years, but she recently left ENERGY worldnet to work with her husband as a Business Development Manager at Stone Strong of Texas.  We hate to see her go, but the change is a great opportunity for Rhonda and provides her with the flexibility to stay closer to home and spend more time with her family.

Rhonda has stated that she is a better person because ENERGY worldnet welcomed her into our family with open arms. She goes on to say, "The staff of EWN and work they do for the Natural Gas and Energy Industry is truly the Best of the Best. The time I spent with EWN and the clients (or should I say friends) I spoke with daily, will always be cherished. The knowledge and skills I gained with this company and with the industry are invaluable to my career today and I would not be where I am today had they not given me the incredible opportunity to serve such an important and welcoming industry. Thank you to my colleagues and all of the friends I made along the way for a great ride. I wish you all the best of luck in everything you do. You will be missed!!"

Best wishes, you will be missed too Rhonda!

Tech Tip of the Month:
Adding Evaluators/Proctors

So what is the difference between an Evaluator and a Proctor anyways?

An Evaluator is the person that evaluates a performance evaluation. A Proctor is an individual who administers a written test.

To make your employee an Evaluator or Proctor follow these steps:

  • Click on Admin - Located at the top right corner of the page.
  • Under Choose a Service click  on User Administration.
  • Find the employee you would like to make an Evaluator and click on their name to access their profile page.
  • In the Login Information section locate the field that says Evaluator and click on the link beside it called Add Qualification. This will take you to the Evaluator Qualification page.
  • The "Show" filter defaults to ENERGY worldnet, but if you have an evaluation created by a third party or an operator you may select them.
  • From the Filter Training Types filter you can select which type of evaluation you would like the employee to be an evaluator/proctor. For instance Evaluate Performance Evaluations or Proctor Written Evaluations or Computer Based Trianing.
  • After selecting the type of training, go down the list and place a check mark out to the  side of each evaluation your employee would be evaluating or proctoring.
  • When you have finished click on Save Evaluator Qualification.

At any time if you need additional assistance or if you have any question please call us toll free at (855) 396-5267 or send us an email to support@energyworldnet.com. We will be more than happy to help you!!
