What It Takes
I received a call recenlty for the sole purpose of telling me what a great job an employee did helping them on a difficult support question. I was not surprised by the positive feedback itself, but this call came from an unexpected source and was unusually enthusiastic, which made me stop and think; what makes the difference between good customer service and excellent customer service? Certainly knowledge, ability to promptly meet a need, and attitude all play a big part, but there must be something more. Then I recalled a discussion earlier in the week with a long time client. While discussing a very challenging and expensive gas system project, my friend stated, "We didn't have do to do this project, but we know in the long run it will make our system better and our community safer." That was it! They care and want to make a positive difference. They care about the customers they serve. They have a real concern for the community they live and work in. They want to do their best for their employees and their industry. In this edition of our Newsletter you will read about Leak City and a group of people that care and want to make a positive difference in our industry. ENERGY worldnet is proud to support Leak City and I am thankful we are part of a group that shares a common passion.
Thank you to everyone that goes the extra mile to do their best. Not because you have to, but because you want to! Best Regards, Geoff Isbell Vice President of Operations

Leak City Fall Workshop
Leak City stands apart from other training facilities in the gas industry because it is the first training facility of its kind that is open to the industry for field service and emergency response training.
Leak City exists because of Mr. Steve W. Carter's vision to give back to an industry that has given him so much throughout the years. Mr. Carter and the team at Leak City are a great example of going above and beyond what is expected. "This facility was a vision of mine that was meant to serve a purpose of giving back something to the Gas Industry that has given so much to me over my 35 years in the Industry. The vision of Leak City was made a reality by the hard work and dedication of my staff, my employees, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Athens Alabama, The Alabama Natural Gas Association (ANGA), and contributing Gas Departments and associations along with many vendors that have graciously donated their time, effort and equipment to make Leak City a success. Thank you for a job well done." - Mr. Steve W. Carter, Manager of the City of Athens Gas Department (pictured above). Leak City has hosted The Natural Gas Fall Workshop annually since 2006. This event offers individuals in the industry an opportunity to receive OQ training and re-qualifications by allowing them to experience hands-on simulations as well as classroom training. The workshop also offers information regarding worksite safety, and industry regulations and standards through their Regulatory Compliance Round Table and Safety Round Table sessions for Supervisors, Managers, and Directors. Since its inception, ENERGY worldnet, Inc. has supported Leak City and the Natural Gas Fall Workshop by providing training material for OQ Training classes. We recently participated in this year's event held at Leak City on September 13-16, 2010, along with many of our clients and non-clients from around the United States and Canada. ENERGY worldnet assisted in the administration of our client's qualifications by uploading their scores to their account which automatically updated their qualification status in our Pro II System. We are proud to support and be a part of Leak City's Natural Gas Fall Workshop. This event is sponsored by Alabama Public Service Commission, Alabama Natural Gas Association, American Public Gas Association, Mississippi Natural Gas Association, Municipal Gas Authority of Georgia, Southern Gas Association, Tennessee Gas Association, Tennessee Regulatory Authority, and Athens Utilities. |
Control Room Managment
According to PHMSA, the U.S. has over 2 million miles of gas pipeline which transports 66% our energy supply. The proper operation of these pipelines is crucial for the safety of the public, property, and the environment.
On September 10, 2010, PHMSA issued a notice of proposal to expedite the program implementation deadline for most of the requirements for the Control Room Management/Human Factors Final Rule from February 1, 2013 to August 1, 2011. To view the advisory click here.
Control Room Operators work in computer based workstation environments and one of the major human factors they may face is fatigue, which can impair how the operator reacts to an emergency on a pipeline. ENERGY worldnet has recently activated CBT course #13053 - EWN-CBT-Abnormal Operating Conditions: Control Center AOCs and we are in the process of completing a CBT course focused on Control Rooms: Human Factors. As always, it is our goal at ENERGY worldnet to provided our clients with the training material necessary to meet industry regulations and best practices. |

Task Assignment vs. Assign Evaluation
Have you encountered this scenario?
You add a new user to the Pro II System and assign them all of the evaluations required in order to be qualified to perform a task for the Operator. When you generate a Task Status report to see what the employee lacks, you do not see the individual's name and you wonder what happened?
More than likely the evaluations were assigned directly through the "Assign Evaluation" feature instead of assigning them through a task in "Task Assignment". The Assign Evaluation feature allows you to directly assign evaluations to an individual, such as supplemental, non-task related training. However, assigning them in this way will not show up in a Task Status report as the assignment was not considered task related. In order for the Task Status report to display the required information, the task (with its associated evaluations) must be assigned from the Task Assignment section for the appropriate Operator.
To Assign a Task:
From the Home/Welcome page go to Contractor/Operator and then click on Task Assignment. Select the Operator, the employee(s) and then the tasks. Finally click on Assign Tasks at the bottom of the page.
As always, if at any time you need further assistance please feel free to give us a call at (940) 626-1941. We will be more than happy to help! |
