The first meeting of the Hospice Group was Electric.
For those who were there, thank you for your honesty, for your enthusiasm and for your work.
For those that had to miss the meeting--you are going to keep on getting these emails until you say uncle.
So, we split into 5 groups and decided to put two together.
The Grief Team (gonna need a new name here) lead by Linda Smith
The Dog Team (now the Illness/Geriatric Team) lead by Mark Farnham
The Next Level Care Team lead by our own Christina Daigle
and the Alternative Medicine Team lead by Dani Coutu.
Each of the leaders took the ball and ran.
Thank you all.
We have started the Kindred Spirits Hospice Facebook to make an easy access for the clients and for now to provide a place for us to communicate to the group.
Erin has also placed the Power Point I gave on Saturday on the Kindred Spirits Website
In addition, the notes from both the Illness/Geriatric team and the Grief Team are on the website. You will find them all under "Online Community" and then Kindred Hospice.
We are not ready for clients yet, we will need at least another meeting or two for that, but we are busting out of the gates.
Next meeting will be at the Sea Dog Saturday March 3rd from 9 to 11 am.
We will review the progress from the last month and slay whatever dragons come up.
Several great ideas came up already.
One is a brochure entitled "You are not Alone"
Brilliant
Next is a library for grief materials for clients to borrow. Kids books, more intense stuff for adults
...Referral list of therapists and counselors that would be willing to talk seriously about pet grief
..an internal list of those who are participating that are comfortable with special situations..like cognitive dysfunction, or bone cancer, or neurological problems
...resources we can provide (grooming, boarding, crates, carts, etc)
Awesome start!!!!
You guys are the best!
As needs come up for education, let me know. For instance, I know that the Illness/Geriatric group is in need of training on common medical issues in hospice. I can do that at a seperate time or we can stay after the meeting if you would like.
Looks like the Grief Team is self educating because you all have professionals in this area.
I am looking forward to seeing what you all develop over the next month. Email me anytime and if you are a Facebooker, join our Hospice Facebook.
If you are a devout non-Facebooker, we will still communicate via email lists, the website and of course email and phone.
You guys rock!!!!
