OK, got the last two placements for the year.
The first is Ida. Vicki raised Ida as a kitten and a client took her home almost 2 years ago. Two weeks ago the client called us and is unable to keep Ida anymore. She is so cute.
Look at that punum...
She is up to date on vaccines, tested negative for FeLv and FIV, and spayed.
Babe (Lily) is a one year old Lab that is boisterous and fun loving. She is housebroken and up to date on shots. The owner has had lots of financial troubles in the last year.
She called her Lily, but we call her Babe.
Please email Christina at christina@kindredvet.com if you can open your homes to either one of these sweet animals. We are currently boarding Babe at a kennel so she can play with other dogs and she needs to be spayed before she goes. We will do the spay at no charge, of course.
For the time being we will not be taking in any more placements for this year. Number one, there has been a deluge and between the cats that we still need to place that were nursed by our foster home, we simply don't have space in our little practice. In addition, we need to build up our reserves in Friends of Kindred Spirits.
This email I intended to send out Sunday, but we lost power, as did many in the Northeast.
Because of the loss of power, I now have a new hobby. Turns out Chloe, like most kittens, is captivated by a laser pointer. I used that to keep us all entertained in the dark Sunday night.
Now I found I can use it as an invisible leash.
I simply point it to the ground and she begins pouncing. She doesn't stop. This morning she followed it into the cat carrier that I put her in to bring her to work with me.
Yesterday I was taking a short break for lunch and making phone calls. While on the phone I was looking for a implement to eat my fruit salad. I couldn't find anything on my desk except a letter opener. As I reached for it, Chloe tried to steal a piece of watermelon. Fortunately, I had the laser pointer and directed her away from my tasty lunch. So in one hand I had the phone, in the other the letter opener, while I stabbed at the melon and grapes. Intermittantly I would put down the letter opener to grab the laser pointer and redirect Chloe. When she was at a safe distance, I would put downt the laser pointer and quickly grab the letter opener to get another piece of fruit. Chloe would see the fruit move and come to get it, so I would pick up the laser pointer again.
This went on for quite awhile.
If I talked to you at 1pm yesterday (Tuesday) I might have seen a little distracted. I was eating a fruit salad with a letter opener and using a laser pointer to occupy a kitten.
Being a man, my ability to multitask is poor.
If I had gotten the order mixed up, I'm sure that the laser would have been harmless in my fruit salad.
But the letter opener on the kitten....
Not so much
