The deadline for submission of your Kindred Spirit Photo is past. We have 80 participants and over 200 photos. I am blown away by the pictures.

Seriously, if you haven't taken a look, do it now.

 

 

 

 I asked for pictures that represented the relationship that people have with their pets. I got it. I love the nakedness of the pictures and the honesty of the stories they tell.

 

OK, probably nakedness is the wrong word here, but let me explain. In the past when I've asked for pictures I've been frustrated that people send pictures of their pets, and maybe their children and pets, but hardly ever them and pets. Because one of the things pets have to teach us is that our beauty doesn't come from our hair (good thing for me) or from our clothing or makeup. They love us with or without any of that, and if you look at some of these pictures they convey that so well. The simple moments, the time, the connection. Look closely at the expressions as you scan the photos.

 

I'm totally happy that the judging committee does not contain me. I know most of the people and most of the pets, so it is officially impossible for me to choose. But the 11 people on the judging committee must now deliberate....

 

They will send me their final choices by Saturday of next week and I will announce the winners on Sunday. I have a special treat planned for that email...so stay tuned.

 

And the best news of all....Sassy and Katie are in a new home. Sadly last Sunday the world lost their sweet owner, but Wednesday a fantastic, generous young couple took Renae's babies. My deep gratitude to Terry and Dawn.

 

So get outside and enjoy the sunshine. Go fishing with your dog or lay in the sun with your cat. For crying out loud, get somebody to take a picture of it so that next year, we will all have a smile again.
