Strawberry Jam

Summer's here, whether your growing them or picking them, make some tasty treats to share..

  • 2 lbs of fresh strawberries, hulled
  • 4 cups of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of lemon juice

Crush the strawberries. Place in saucepan, mix together with sugar and lemon juice. Stir until dissolved. Bring to full rolling boil and then transfer to hot sterilized jars leaving space for sealing. Process in water bath or eat right away and refrigerate.

Enjoy!

Amazing kitchens

Photo of the Month

This outdated 1950's kitchen and home was in desperate need of a facelift. The small, cramped kitchen was opened up removing the door and wall between it and the living room. An island was added and a large pantry space incorporated to improve entertaining area and storage. There are new stained cabinets, Cambria countertops and backsplash, light fixtures, stainless steel appliances including a Zephyr hood, gas range, and new flooring.

Swimming Safety
Pool Diving
Summer's here and so is outdoor swimming season...

Here are some tips on being safe in the water:

1. Know the Water - water that is warm above may be cold below. Rivers can move faster than you think
2. Know your Limits - swimming in open waters is different than in the pool
3. Wear a Life Jacket that Fits You - children under 12 must wear a life jacket when on a moving boat less than 19 feet long
4. Learn to swim - take a class or enroll your child in a class at a local pool or gym
5. Swim in a lifeguarded area if possible. Most drownings are preventable and a lifeguard is a part of this safety program
6. Be Prepared - check conditions and have a safety plan in place
