Personalize Your Remodel | | |
A little inspiration for your next project.
Do you have a family or cultural tradition, or symbol you would like to include in your remodeling project's finishing touches?
If you can dream it, we can build it. Maybe you've heard that before, but it can be reality. However, you must also ask yourself, is it within my budget?
Recently we added a garage to our client's residence in Greenlake. During the completion of the driveway and sidewalk, our client was inspired to add family symbolism to his new addition.

As the third generation homeowner, he wanted to honor his father and grandfather who had owned the home prior. To add symbolism to the new structure, he chose to have polished his family name embellished in brass letters placed. These letters in the form of initials were elegantly placed in going up his new driveway to be visible when walking or riding by. The letters are comprised of our client's initials and III, his father's as Jr. and his grandfather's as Sr.
We are proud to be a part of this project and even more happy to help our client add a signature touch that will make memories for a lifetime.
Do you have a creative detail or idea we could include in your project? We can work with you to get those creative juices flowing.
Your home is most likely your largest investment.
Embellish it by hiring professionals to complete your maintenance, repairs, remodels, and renovations.

Water Safety
1. Know the Water - water that is warm above may be cold below. Rivers can move faster than you think.
2. Know your Limits - swimming in open waters is different than in the pool
3. Wear a Life Jacket that Fits You - children under 12 must wear a life jacket when on a moving boat less than 19 feet long
4. Be Prepared - check conditions, have a safety plan in place.

Testimonial Spotlight
We have the BEST clients. Here's what Robert H. says about working with us.
Finding a contractor is not easy not to mention exhausting. I've been fortunate to find two that have done great work. The reason I switched contractors to Irons Brothers is because when I put out to bid my basement remodel, Joseph Irons was honest with me and stated that if I was happy with my current contractor I should stay with them, so I did. I respected this professionalism and decided to give Irons Brothers first bid on my garage project. Irons Brothers has done a great job on my garage. They provide regular updates and are willing to go the extra mile to make sure their customer is happy. I'm a happy customer and would choose Irons Brothers again.

Tips for Parents with College Bound Children
If you have a child who is college bound, you may be feeling overwhelmed by the transition for them from a dependent to self-sufficient. Here are 4 tips to help with this process and help and you prepare for the journey.

1. Organization- heading off to college is a major move. Help your child plan for each step of the process with calendars, bookmarks, and to-do lists so that nothing important is missed. Coach them that when they will be living on campus organization will be important for upkeep and class assignments.
2. Independence- Keep the lines of communication open. Consider buying your child a book on surviving their first year of college to help prepare them to make informed decisions. Make a plan of when and how you will keep in contact so you are giving them freedom and also keeping apprised of how things are going.
3. Stress- This can be an extremely stressful time for both parents and children. Let your child know it's okay to feel nervous, anxious, or scared about leaving home. Let your child know how the stress of them leaving is also affecting you. Keep an eye out for any complications of stress and talk openly.
4. Safety - We all may think we're invincible, especially at 18. Don't forget to talk with your child about safety measures that should be taken now they are living as independent adults. Have your child become familiar with the campus's safety plan and precautions.

Accidents Are Not Planned
Have you ever suffered from a major injury, been in an accident, or had surgery? Most of us have or will have in our lifetime. When this situation arises will you be prepared at home?
It is very different how your normal activities and routines are completed when you are suffering from pain or discomfort. You must adapt your daily routine and this is not always easy in all homes. Do you have grab bars to help you when bathing? Are the furniture pieces in your home easy to transfer in and out of? Are there several flights of stairs to climb inside and out?
Next time you are planning a remodeling project, these are some serious design aspects to consider. Think out of the box and come up with a plan to create a visitable space for all ages and even for those who have an injury. Would someone visiting your home with a sprained ankle be able to function easily? Accidents happen and we can be prepared for them by taking a few steps to plan ahead.
Recently Joseph Irons was in a motorcycle accident and was subject to several injuries to his body. He is finally beginning to start recovering 15 days after the accident. But he realized very quickly that there a some features in his own home that became obstacles during his recuperation. Some of these included difficulty transferring in and out of the jetted tub and getting up and down from the bed and chairs. Fortunately he did plan ahead when completing his home remodeling projects and does have many modifications that are helpful to him at this time. Such as comfort height toilets, wider doorways, lever handles, dishwasher drawers, projected cabinet hardware, minimal steps and transitions.
Accidents are not planned, but remodels are. Think ahead and be prepared for your family and visitors when planning your next project. |

Thank you for reading this month's newsletter. I hope you can take away some of this information and apply it in your daily life.
I am very fortunate to have an amazing team at Irons Brothers Construction. This means that our clients are happy and projects have continued to run smoothly this Summer, especially while I was on vacation in July for my 10th wedding anniversary and now while I'm recovering from my motorcycle accident.
I would like to extend a big thank you to my staff, specialty contractors, designers, architects, and vendors, for all of your support and making this happen.
I would also like to thank my clients for their support and especially acknowledge the ones who have accommodated their schedules and appointments to work around my recovery.
Remember one of the benefits of hiring our company is that I am personally involved in your project from beginning to end. When recently asked, "why should I hire Irons Brothers Construction?" I replied, "Because people trust me to listen to their needs and ensure they're met."
Contact us to schedule an appointment and ensure your spot on our upcoming project calendar.
Summer is almost over, enjoy every minute you can of this beautiful weather we're having.

Have a wonderful weekend!
