Green Tip

Bike to the Bar
Drink and travel responsibly this St. Patrick's Day and any other day too!
The Irish, have drinking establishments on more street corners than anywhere else on Earth.
Next time you head out to the pub, join the growing movement of bike commuters and cycle instead of driving. Doing this you will slash your greenhouse gas emissions. But remember you still need to limit your intake as to not get a BUI.
If your regular bar is to far away to bike, try somewhere new and locate the closest bar with Guinness on tap!

Luck of the Irish
On March 17th we will celebrate St. Patrick's Day. This day is the traditional religious feast day of Saint Patrick. Traditional meals of corned beef, cabbage, and irish soda bread will be consumed by many American and Irish families celebrating this year. Ever wonder where the phrase, "The Luck of the Irish" comes from?
The Irish are traditionally unlucky, so the phrase is somewhat ironic. Some trace the origin of the phrase to the US where, during the exploration for gold in the West, there were a high number of Irish people who got lucky, and found their "pot o' gold" in the gold fields of California, or were equally prosperous in silver mining.
The phrase, "Luck of the Irish" does owe its origin to the United States. When the Irish arrived, they were unfortunately very disliked and treated poorly by most Americans. This is because at the time they were despised by many Americans and thought to be incapable of success, so they called it luck. Hence the phrase, "Luck of the Irish" was created.

Looking for a last minute St. Patty's Day Recipe:
Traditional White Irish Soda Bread
Ingredients:
- 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons caraway seeds (optional)
- 1 teaspoon baking-soda
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups (about) buttermilk
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 425°F. Lightly flour baking sheet. Mix flour, caraway seeds, if using, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Mix in enough buttermilk to form moist clumps. Gather dough into ball. Turn out onto lightly flour surfaced and knead just until dough holds together, about 1 minute. Shape dough into 6-inch-diameter by 2-inch-high round. Place on prepared baking sheet. Cut 1-inch-deep X across top of bread, extending almost to edges. Bake until bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on bottom, about 35 minutes. Transfer bread to rack and cool completely.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! |

Reinvest in Your Home

This year when deciding how your will spend your IRS Tax Return, consider reinvesting in your home. Most American's largest financial investment is their home. We advise that you don't spend your tax return dollars until you have protected this investment.
Take a look around your house, are their maintanence issues that need to be addressed? Have you scheduled your Spring cleaning and started your seasonal home maintanence? Don't neglect your biggest investment by putting off small repairs and minor or major maintanence. You may cause more harm and damage to your home.
