Green Tip

Lemons, the versatile Fruit!
Believe it or not there are many household uses for lemons. They are high in Vitamin C and have some antioxidant and anti-carcinogenic properties.
Try these 5 ideas:
1) Add equal amounts of lemon juice and water for an all-purpose household cleaner.
2) Heat a bowl of water and lemon slices in the microwave for 30 seconds to neutralize odors.
3) Place half a lemon in your refrigerator to control and eliminate unpleasant odors.
4) Use half a lemon to clean the lime scale off sinks or faucets.
5) Hot lemon juice and baking soda is a good drain cleaner that is safe in septic systems. | | |

President's Day
This February 21st we will celebrate our American Presidents. While this federal holiday is not typically a day off of work for most Americans, it is a significant day in American history. Do you know which President's birthdays we are celebrating during this holiday? President's Day is celebrated each year on the 3rd Monday of February. This holiday was established in 1800 by Congress to honor George Washington's birthday, February 22nd as a federal holiday. But over time it has also become a celebration of Abraham Lincoln's birthday, February 16th. Join us in honoring the legacy of our U.S. Presidents this month. Here are some other little known facts we found interesting about February's President's Day. - The holiday was originally named Washington's Birthday, not President's Day.
- All of the U.S. Presidents have lived in the White House except George Washington, it was still under construction while he was in office.
- President's Day was part of the 1968 Uniform Holiday Monday Bill which moved most federal holidays to Monday from their original date. This was to make longer weekends for American workers.
- On Feb 17th 1801 Thomas Jefferson became President.

Holidays are a time for families and friends to come together, commemorate historic events, and usher in the seasons. Enjoy your day! |
